  • terfs celebrating that the international chess federation has banned trans women from competing in women's FIDE competitions, because it's sooooooo feminist to argue that women are so biologically inferior and nowhere near as smart as men and thus can't play chess on the same level. girl that's not feminism that's literally just misogyny

they'll lick any boot that stomps on trans women

"They'll lick any boot that stomps on trans women."

The situation is actually considerably more insidious than just saying that women are biologically inferior.

The reason why chess tournaments for women specifically exist isn’t because women can’t compete against men, but because professional chess has a rampant misogyny problem and female competitors often face horrific harassment from their opponents, coaches, audience members, media coverage, and international fans online. Many chess tournaments are actively unsafe for women, so tournaments specifically for women are to not just give them more attention and coverage, it’s also a measure to protect them from sexism and violence.

On August 3rd, an open letter from some of France’s top women players was posted on twitter, talking about the misogynistic harassment and sexual violence that women and girls face in the chess community and that many women are forced to stay silent about. It got dozens more signatures from women around the world. At least one person who signed it and one of the co-writers of the letter, Yosha Iglesias, is a transgender woman (and a very famous player).

For this new rule to be made almost immediately after women, including at least one transgender women, it seems like it’s direct retaliation for daring to talk about misogynistic violence. It’s also very blatantly shifting the blame for that harassment onto transgender players, specifically transgender women (though trans men are also suffering because of these rules), implying that removing trans women from one of the few spaces in professional chess that they can feel semi-safe will solve the issue of sexual harassment.

It’s punishment, plain and simple. Punishment for daring to speak out about misogyny, punishment for daring to speak out about transphobia, and punishment for daring to stand in solidarity with trans women. Women spoke up against violence and hate and the ICF responded by trying to drive a wedge between them, by pinning the blame on their fellow women and fellow victims.

And now, transphobes who have never once given a single fuck about chess or sexual violence among chess players are flocking to praise a transphobic decision that is only being used to further silence victims of misogyny and violence. They don’t care that the letter was made as an act of solidarity between cis and trans women over the violence they all face, they don’t care that this will only further hurt women in the professional chess community, all they care about is that it hurts trans people.

i am so tired of ppl not watching the video and rbing with their ignorant opinions going on abt “dress for your body type” and shit like…. that’s not the point. the point is that almost everything deemed trendy and attractive is awarded these qualities BECAUSE they are worn by tall, skinny and usually white bodies.

if y’all had bothered to watch the video, you would’ve seen the comparison between gigi hadid wearing denim shorts and a regular ass shirt and a normal fat woman wearing the exact same fit, and how drastic the reception was for the latter. it’s the exact same outfit, nothing revolutionary or new, i can’t even call it fashion—denim shorts and a t-shirt. yet the fat woman was mocked relentlessly online and said she looked like a racist, while miss hadid was praised for being a trendsetter and a fashion icon.

and not for nothing but y’all have to shut the fuck up abt dressing for body types. it’s bullshit. women should be able to wear whatever the fuck we desire without needing others’ approval for whether or not our bodies are attractive enough for you to let us get out of the house or post pictures online. the most important thing is that YOU like what you’re wearing and YOU feel confident and comfortable in your outfits and your expression of yourself. wear a long skirt “even if” you’re short. wear 6 inch heels “even if” you’re 6 feet tall. wear crop tops and hot shorts and backless dresses “even if” you’re fat. cover up and take off whatever you want as long as you like what you’re wearing.

New weird horse just dropped, folks.

A spotless giraffe was recently born at Bright’s Zoo in Limestone, TN and was just announced in the media this morning. They’re starting a public naming contest for her, of course.

A baby giraffe stands in a pen. she is a consistent soft brown with a lighter belly and has no spots.ALT

I’d love to know what type of mutation causes this lack of of pattern, but I don’t know if we have genetics on that for giraffes the way we do other species. As far as is known, she’s the first spotless giraffe ever documented!

This is an over baked animal cracker.

Self improvement is great but ultimately? you have to accept your self. Yes you can eat better, exercise more, read more, set boundaries, love your self, but it all comes down to this. Some days you won’t have the energy to do any of these things. And you’ll look in the mirror and think that this is not enough. That’s a lie. The biggest love for self is to live slowly. To rest. To really rest. Have a nap. Eat what makes you feel good. Read if you want to. Embrace yourself and accept that you cannot and will not be ever be perfect. Accept that you are good enough. You don’t need to keep busy all the time. you don’t need to go out all the time and post on instagram. You don’t need to journal if you don’t want to. You don’t need to make art if you don’t want to. Breathe, give yourself grace and compassion. Give yourself the love and tenderness you so badly need. Be gentle with yourself. You are trying and it is good enough. You are good enough.

A beautiful poem that illustrates my point

so yeah that fire in Lahaina, Maui? That was what indigenous activists were trying to prevent. That is why Land Back movements wants indigenous people to be the stewards of the land that was once theirs. Not kick out white people and settlers. But to prevent shit like that where a bunch of tourists/settlers won't destroy the planet in their ruthless pursuit of productivity and profit. So yeah, think on that.

People are asking how was this white people fault?

Power lines, in Hawaii they are owned by Blackrock and Vanguard, keep catching on fire because they forget to turn off their shitty electricity. So when they eventually topple over, white people forgot to cut the Guinea grass planted by colonizers 200 years to feed cows which changed Lahaina from a a swampland to the fucking tinderbox that it is today.

But hey, grass is grass and no need to mow an invasive species, right colonizers? Oh shit, that global warming that these fucking oil companies spent decades telling us wasn’t real is real and that dried up the land in Maui?

Now motherfuckers are trying to buy land off of the indigenous people in Maui because colonizers just love having part time homes, right?

But yay let’s celebrate the fucking billionaires who own homes in Lahaina because they are donating. Nope, no fucking correlation there right?

Indigenous Hawaiians have been saying how tourism is killing their islands for over a decade yet you fucking assholes keep mentioning how Tourism is the point of Hawaii as if that culture wasn’t just about living instead of living for profit.

They don’t want you there but you fuckheads insist of making it your timeshare goal. So yeah. It’s absolutely settler’s fault that this shit happening.

Think I will always be too much and at the same time not enough

"damn I'm crying over an insect" "why am I having such strong feelings over how the sky looks" "it's weird how happy this small thing made me feel" THAT'S BECAUSE YOU LIVE HERE!!!! you live on this earth. everything all the time is an experience, no matter how common or mundane. this world is unique. so are its small moments. it is good to enjoy a tiny thing. you love the world even at its smallest scale.
